Kyrgyzstan’s HoReCa Market: Sevenfold Growth Over 15 Years
The volume of hotel and restaurant services in Kyrgyzstan reached a historic high. According to the National Statistical Committee, total sector revenues amounted to KGS 73.3 billion (≈ USD 835 million) in 2025, which is nearly 6.8 times higher than in 2011, when the industry generated KGS 10.8 billion (≈ USD 123 million). The data was reported by Economist.kg, citing the National Statistical Committee.
The figure reflects the aggregate revenues of hotels and restaurants nationwide. It serves as an indicator of tourism activity, business travel, domestic demand, and the level of service infrastructure development across the regions.
Until 2019, the market demonstrated steady growth — from KGS 10.8 billion to KGS 25.7 billion (≈ USD 293 million). However, in 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, border closures, and travel restrictions, the volume of services declined to KGS 16 billion (≈ USD 182 million), marking a decrease of nearly KGS 10 billion in just one year.
The recovery proved to be rapid. By 2022, the sector had surpassed its pre-crisis level, reaching KGS 29.8 billion (≈ USD 340 million). In 2023, the volume increased to KGS 42.1 billion (≈ USD 480 million), followed by KGS 59.3 billion (≈ USD 676 million) in 2024, and KGS 73.3 billion (≈ USD 835 million) by the end of 2025. Thus, over the past three years, the market has more than doubled in size.
Experts note that the hospitality and restaurant business has become one of the fastest-growing segments of the services sector in the country. The expansion reflects an increase in tourist inflows, the development of domestic tourism, and the formation of stable consumer demand. In addition, the sector generates employment and produces a multiplier effect on related industries, including transport, retail, and agriculture.
The accelerated post-crisis growth may indicate structural shifts within the economy. Kyrgyzstan is gradually strengthening its position as a destination for both leisure and business activities.
According to analysts, provided current growth rates and macroeconomic conditions remain stable, Kyrgyzstan’s HoReCa market could approach KGS 100 billion (≈ USD 1.14 billion) in the medium term.
