The international fast-food chain Subway is considering entering the Armenian market and opening more than 60 restaurants. This was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia following a meeting between Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, Subway’s Regional General Manager Efe Celik, and Armenian investor Levon Hayrapetyan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for developing the chain in the country. The investment required to open a single restaurant is estimated at $150,000–300,000.

The project could contribute to the creation of new jobs, the development of franchising, and the involvement of local suppliers. In addition, the arrival of an international chain is expected to introduce global standards to the food service sector.

The potential expansion of Subway could become one of the projects strengthening the presence of international restaurant brands in the Armenian market and supporting the development of the HoReCa sector.
